LGBT Youth Scotland Launches New Domestic Abuse Support Service

LGBT Youth Scotland announces the development of a new domestic abuse support service.

Fearless offers a new approach to supporting the hidden survivors of domestic abuse in Scotland.

Sacro, in partnership with Shakti Women’s Aid, Respect UK, and LGBT Youth Scotland, will reach out to those people who are less inclined to access domestic abuse services. This will include survivors from the black and ethnic minority community, members of the LGBT community and male survivors. Any individual over 16 years old can access the service.

The service will offer practical support for survivors to access a range of supports including housing, health services and will support appropriate inclusion with their community. A dedicated case worker will be allocated to each individual referred to the service and the service will strive to offer informed choices to each person. All support will be individually tailored to suit the client’s needs.

In order to ensure that we provide the best service possible for LGBT people, we are asking members of the community to complete a survey to help us identify the types of support a LGBT person might access, understand what might stop someone seeking support, and help us to effectively promote the service.

If you are LGBT, regardless of whether you've experienced domestic abuse, please take a few minutes to complete our survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LGBTFearLess

We are keen to hear from LGBT people over 16 years old from a range of diverse backgrounds, so please share widely if it is safe for you to do so.
